Predictions from your Commissioner.....again.
Sorry I was away last week. It happens.
In the college game, USC and Oklahoma continue their inevitable march to the national championship game. Both will win easily this week. USC 52, Arizona 16;
Oklahoma 43, Nebraska 19.
The UTEP Miners will keep things moving against Rice at home this week, 47 - 6;
and finally, I like Vanderbilt to eek one out at Kentucky, 24-14. That last one was for Squishles, who proudly went to Vanderbilt.
On to the Pros:
NFL Week 10 (already!)
The FIRST PLACE SAN DIEGO CHARGERS are off this week so....
Five games I am looking at, beginning with:
Baltimore @ NY Jets. The loss of Pennington will hurt the Jets badly. Quincy Carter is nowhere near as consistent and faces a Ravens defense that is very opportunistic and will bring the kitchen sink at him. The Ravens defense should also bottle up Curtis Martin enough. Jamal Lewis will make plays against a suspect Jets run D, and all Boller has to do is be conservative and not make mistakes. As usual. Ravens 24, Jets 9;
Carolina at San Francisco. Weely game that I should not be wasting space on. Both teams suck, so this game is for the No. 1 pick in the draft. Oh, wait, the Dolphins should already have that wrapped up. Okay, the No. TWO pick in the draft. 49ers 24, Panthers 20;
NY Giants @ Arizona. How will the Giants deal with losing two defensive starters for the year? Can Kurt Warner figure out his game? Will Tom Coughlin finally put Manning in? The answers: badly, no, and most likely. The G-Men play a Cardinals team at the wrong time. The Birdies' defense is very improved and should limit Barber from one of his usual great games. The weather can also play a part, since the G-Men are not used to the heat. Arizona pulls way late for a mild upset.
Cardinals 23, Giants 10;
Clobber of the week:
Philadelphia @ Dallas. Ouch. Philly defense against a team that cannot run the ball and is very susceptible to the blitz. Philly lost by 24 last week to possibly the best team in the NFL. Cowboys lost to Cincinnati by 23, who is defintely not the best team in the NFL. The Eagles are really going to be pissed off and this has all the makings of a blowout early.
Eagles 38, Cowboys 13;
and finally,
Upset of the week:
Kansas City @ New Orleans. People are calling me crazy, but I like the Saints at home here. Both defenses are terrible. This should be a shootout of magnificent proportions. Preist Holmes may not play this week, and even if he does he will be no where near 100% . Yes, the Chiefs have people to take up the slack, but they are playing an under-achieving Saints team that plays much better on turf. The Saints also have something to prove, if they want to save Haslett's job. Saints 39, Chiefs 35.
Talk to you next week..
As always your humble servant......
The Commissioner
aka the Mad Cow
MOO!!!
P.S. MY DISCLAIMER: I do not gamble, I just love football. If you gamble, fine, but if you use these picks to do it, you are an idiot. Save your money and go to the movies.
